This year I’m preparing for National Knit a Sweater Month in advance. I’ve already identified a couple of patterns that will suit my husband to a T. And last weekend, I managed to find a sweater quantity of the right kind of yarn.
Knitters, you know how hard it is to find a sweater quantity of yarn at an LYS. So often, they have 5 or 6 hanks remaining of a particular color. But when you need 10 or 12, you’re sunk.
Well, I’m proud to say that I’ve achieved a small pre-NaKniSweMo victory. Last weekend, I was in Duluth, MN and visited Yarn Harbor. They had a wonderful selection of Quince & Co. Yarns, including 13 hanks of the Lark base in the Parsley colorway.
Yes, I bought every hank they had. I could probably get away with only 12, but I was convinced that, if I bought fewer hanks, I would jinx myself and would soon regret leaving that last hank behind. When you’re knitting cables, sometimes that yardage really sneaks up on you.
Next comes the swatching. When November 1st comes, I’m going to be ready to go.
Good planning and good find.
Should be a fun project.
Looking forward to it. You going to join in?
I should. I should knit a sweater from the yarn I spun to knit a sweater. It would be a good challenge and make me take the plunge.
Fabulous color! I would have bought all they had too. Better safe than sorry:)
No kidding. Who knows if I’d find that same dye lot again.
I keep thinking I should participate in this but I know I won’t make it. I’ve had a sweater on the needles since last summer and I’m not even to the armholes (top-down raglan). And it’s in worsted weight. ::sigh::
It’s really good motivation. Lots of people to encourage you. Including me if you decide to join in.
Yes, but are you knitting Auster or Mohr? Inquiring knitters want to know…..
I just don’t know. The good news is I think I have enough yarn for either one. I may decide to search for both in order to decide.
That color will suit him!
Green is one of his best colors. Nice blue eyes. Makes them pop.
Good find – anything Quince and Co is worth some effort. It is going to make a great sweater. 🙂
That’s been my experience too. I really like their linen yarn.
Lovely color! I think I need to participate this year. But must determine what yarn to use with what pattern. So maybe I better start planning now. I will likely change my mind a few hundred times!!
Yeah, there are a lot of wonderful options out there. Planning ahead is a good idea. Especially if you need to order yarn. Last year I got lucky and found the right yarn in my LYS the week before NaKniSweMo started. But that was REALLY lucky.
Beautiful yarn. I can’t wait to see it work up. I dyed my yarn this week. I can’t wait
I failed miserably last year. I doubt I can make it this year. I already have the sweater crop top roaring to go and I wouldn’t want to have to wait until November to cast on. We’ll see. Maybe I can finish it by November and start on a new NaKniSweMo project.
