New York City to Catch a Major Case of Dance Fever
During the 21st Manhattan Amateur Classic on Jan. 14-16, 2011
More Than 1,000 Dancers from Across North America Expected to Compete
The Manhattan Amateur Classic (MAC), sponsored by the Greater New York Chapter of USA Dance, is one of the largest dance competitions of its kind and one of the longest-running, now entering its 21st consecutive year. The competition will feature pre-bronze through open, Standard, Latin, Smooth, Rhythm, Cabaret and Theater Arts. Dancers in all age categories will compete in tango, waltz, cha cha, samba, swing, mambo and much more.
While this event is for amateurs, it has been the launch pad for many dance stars who represent the United States across the world, as well as those who go on to appear on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars,” Fox’s “So You Think You Can Dance” and NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.”
