Today I am heading to my first Black Sheep Gathering. I’ll be taking an all day spinning class that focuses on different techniques of using color. I’m just a little nervous because I’ve only had one previous class and that was beginning drop spindle. I’ve never had any classes in wheel spinning at all; what I know comes from reading and the Internet. So here we go. I imagine my brain will be full by the end of the day.
Mom is coming to Black Sheep Gathering with me. She picked up this cute little mascot at Gallery Karon in Ashland. Too cute. He doesn’t have a name yet (Dad’s suggestion of “blackie” was roundly rejected). Somehow Mom knows it’s a boy though.
Q – Color me green! Next year. I know you will have a fabulous time. Love the sheep, AND mom’s are ALWAYS right. LOL!
We went to Black Sheep Gathering a couple of years ago. Great festival! Enjoy the classes – I was nervous about that last year when I took a class from Abby Franquemont at Taos Wool Market and it ended up being a great day. I think most instructors understand that they’ll get people with different levels of skills in each class. Hope you have a blast and make sure to try to lamb kabobs. They were awesome.
Oh my gosh..so jealous! Have fun and send updates!!
See you there!
I am so jealous! Almost everything I know about spinning came either from a brief 20 minute explanation of how it’s done from my LYS owner, and tidbits from the internet. A spinning class would probably be a good idea 😛
Congrats on the getting to take the class, as a fellow internet/book learner I will be anxious to hear your thoughts on taking a wheel class. Your sheep is adorable, my own little mascot (Horace the Sheep) definitely thinks it’s a great addition to your family (though he might be a little biased.) Have fun!
Update: the sheep has been named Black Purl. We’re on the lookout for a suitable eyepatch.
Ooh, Have fun at the class!
