Hip Hip Hooray…errr…Boohoo

No sooner do I start getting enthusiastic about movement again than I get another injury. Hip this time instead of Achilles tendon. Not sure exactly what’s complaining, but I think I need to change what I’m doing. Give it a rest and do some other types of non-twisting, lower impact exercise for a while. Running is the thing that’s aggravating it the most right now, so that’s out for a little bit (and darn it, because I was really getting into my running) and dancing will happen only with care.

I don’t think I can give up dancing the way I can temporarily give up running.

The important lesson I’ve learned (a lesson I periodically relearn) is that I need to get enthusiastic about stretching. At least as enthusiastic as I am about cardio and dancing. Otherwise I sabotage myself.

Hrmph. I’m not 20 anymore. I can’t punish myself for days on end without stretching and not pay for it.

Anybody know any good solo stretches or assisted stretches that one can do to help the hips? I think the hip flexor is what is hurting. The BF is good at helping with stretches, but I’m not sure if he knows a good assisted stretch for this.
