I hit a cement post in a parking ramp on Wednesday. The post won. I now have a long, corrugated dent in the side of my poor little Stratus. All of this after a very frustrating experience at the doctor’s office. If I’m being honest, it was the direct result of a very frustrating experience at the doctor’s office. Moral of the story: take some time to calm down before getting behind the wheel. You’ll be happy you did later.
You’d better believe I went right home and picked up my knitting. I almost didn’t take my shoes off first. That’s where BF found me an hour later when he got home from work, working my frustration out on the Pi Shawl and watching The Wedding Singer, one of my go-to comfort movies.
I’ve been saving three skeins of glorious Swans Island merino for a couple of months now, intending to use them to knit a romantic little lace wrap. A lace wrap that, on further review, intimidates the heck out of me. I don’t recall the name of the pattern, but it’s on the cover of Wendy Knits Lace. Oy. I’m so glad I decided to use it to knit a Pi Shawl instead. I have just the right amount of yarn for it. And I’m so glad I got past the really annoying beginning section on dpns on Monday night. I don’t think I could have handled dpns on Wednesday afternoon. By Wednesday, I’d transferred the pattern to my nice slick circulars. Click, click, click.
I’m really enjoying this Pi Shawl. I still get to knit some very pretty lace, but it’s lace that doesn’t give me heart palpitations. I go round and round and only have to rip back occasionally when I get distracted by rapping Grandmas or creepy renditions of “Lady’s Night.”
Thank heaven’s I had a pissed-off-knitting project available. What do you knit when you have issues to work out?
